This random drawing idea generator gives you something to draw, from a single subject to a full scene. Choose how complex you want it, which subjects you like, and whether to add a style challenge.
How to use it
- Press Give me something to draw.
- Set Complexity: Simple (one subject), Medium (subject and action) or Detailed scene (subject, action and place).
- Choose subjects like animals, fantasy, people, objects, food or nature.
- Set Style challenge to Always for prompts like “in one continuous line” or “using only three colors”.
Drawing challenges to try
- Daily sketch: one simple prompt every day for 30 days.
- Speed round: five prompts, two minutes each.
- Color challenge: pair this with the palette generator and use only those colors.
- Draw-off: share the link so friends draw the same prompt, then compare.
Keep, copy and share your drawing ideas
Every result has a lock button. Locked results stay put when you generate again, so you can keep the drawing ideas you like and reroll the rest. The history panel keeps your earlier results, and the back arrow takes you to the previous set if you generated one time too many.
Use Copy to copy the results as a plain list, CSV or JSON, or download them as a file. Share copies a link that shows exactly the same results to whoever opens it, which is handy for games, classes and group chats.
Make it a habit
A drawing a day is one of the simplest ways to improve, and a random idea takes away the hardest part, which is deciding what to draw. Pick a complexity that fits the time you have: Simple for a five-minute warm-up, Medium for a sketchbook page, and Detailed scene for a longer piece. Turn the style challenge on when you want to break habits, for example drawing with only three colors or in one continuous line.
Drawing games with friends
Generate one idea and have everyone draw it in five minutes, then compare. Or play a drawing relay: one person starts the sketch, then passes it on every minute. For a guessing game, one person draws the idea while the others try to name it.
Track your progress
Keep the ideas you draw in a list by copying them after each session. Months later, redraw the same idea and compare the two versions to see how much you have improved.
