About the list
This is a list of well-known players, not complete current rosters. Positions are simplified to guard, forward and center, and eras show the decades in which each player was most prominent.
Keep, copy and share your players
Every result has a lock button. Locked results stay put when you generate again, so you can keep the players you like and reroll the rest. The history panel keeps your earlier results, and the back arrow takes you to the previous set if you generated one time too many. Press Wheel to put the current results on a spinning wheel and pick one with a bit of drama.
Use Copy to copy the results as a plain list, CSV or JSON, or download them as a file. Share copies a link that shows exactly the same results to whoever opens it, which is handy for games, classes and group chats.
Using the filters
Pick an era to keep a game fair, for example only 1990s players for a nostalgia quiz or only 2020s players for younger fans. Positions are grouped as guard, forward and center. Many players spent time at more than one position, so each player is listed at the position they were best known for. Turn on “Exclude already shown” for a quiz where every player comes up only once.
Name the team
Generate a player and see who can name a team they played for. Or build two random teams of five and argue about which would win. Keep it light and let the back arrow undo any pick nobody recognizes.

Does it include current NBA players?
Yes. It includes current stars as well as legends, but not full team rosters.
Can I get players from one era?
Yes. Pick one or more decades under Era.
How are positions decided?
We use a simplified main position: guard, forward or center.
Can I generate a random starting five?
Yes. Set how many players to 5 and keep "No duplicates" on. Filter by position if you want a traditional lineup.
Can I spin a wheel of players?
