Random Date Generator

Random dates in any range, plus random birthdays, days, months and years.

Loading the random date generator… If nothing appears, please turn on JavaScript.

Generate a random date between any two dates, or switch modes to get a random birthday for an age range, a random day of the week, a random month or a random year. Choose weekdays only or weekends only, and pick the date format you need.

What it can generate

  • A full date between your start and end date.
  • A birthday for someone aged, say, 18 to 65, with their current age.
  • A day of the week, weekdays only or weekends only.
  • A month or a year in any range.

Uses

  • Test data: realistic dates and birthdays for spreadsheets and software testing.
  • Characters: a birthday for a story character.
  • Planning: pick a random weekend day for an outing.
  • History games: generate a year and say what happened then.

Formats

Choose a long format (March 4, 1987), ISO (1987-03-04), US (03/04/1987) or European (04/03/1987). Copy or download as a list, CSV or JSON.

Keep, copy and share your dates

Every result has a lock button. Locked results stay put when you generate again, so you can keep the dates you like and reroll the rest. The history panel keeps your earlier results, and the back arrow takes you to the previous set if you generated one time too many. Press Wheel to put the current results on a spinning wheel and pick one with a bit of drama.

Use Copy to copy the results as a plain list, CSV or JSON, or download them as a file. Share copies a link that shows exactly the same results to whoever opens it, which is handy for games, classes and group chats.

Setting the range

For a full date, pick a start and end date. Both ends are included, so a range from January 1 to January 31 can give you either day. For a random birthday, set the youngest and oldest age and the generator works out a real date of birth from today’s date. Use “Weekdays only” for business dates and test data, or “Weekends only” for planning events. The Format option changes how dates are written, so you can match US, UK or ISO style.

Ideas for random dates

Writers use random dates for character birthdays and story timelines. Developers and testers use them as test data, and teachers use them for “what day of the week was it?” puzzles. A random day of the week can also settle when to meet up.
